Taitung - A small city on Taiwan's East coast with a few attractions

Getting to Taitung from Kenting requires a transfer from bus to train in Fangliao, a small town with a charming port on Taiwan's west coast. Taitung itself isn't a large city and has relatively few attractions. Like many other Taiwanese cities, it features a "train park", an old station with a repurposed garage serving as a communal space. It also has a cultural park where old industrial buildings blend with modern structures to create a cultural hub. As in other cities, Taitung has Japanese-era wooden buildings now functioning as galleries. Naturally, there are temples, and from a hilltop, you can overlook the sleepy city and the sea. Coastal parks line the shore, but the beaches aren't suitable for swimming. The most interesting and unique attraction, in my opinion, is the Peinan Site, which showcases prehistoric and indigenous culture—but that's covered in another post
