Beaches in Busan - Gwangalli Beach
Gwangalli Beach seems to be the liveliest and most youthful of the five beaches in Busan that I've seen (from north to south: Songjeong Beach and Haeundae Beach, Gwangalli Beach, Songdo Beach, and Dadaepo Beach), and it is also the closest to the city center. There are many shops, restaurants, and bars in the area—not high-end, but catering to the general public. The beach itself is nice, with fine sand, and it must be a pleasant place for a swim in summer. There are areas designated for street performers ("busking"), who seem to attract quite an audience. The view is dominated by the Gwangandaegyo Bridge, which spans the bay in front of the beach. To the north of Gwangalli Beach is the Suyeong River (Suyeonggang), with the towering, shiny buildings of the Park Hyatt Busan across it. The southern end of the beach is reserved for SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), and it is also the gateway to Igidae Park (Igidae Coastal Trail).
