Temple by the sea in Busan - Haedong Yonggungsa
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple proudly proclaims itself as "the most beautiful temple in Korea" (somewhat ignoring the Buddhist principle of modesty), but I don't entirely agree. The temple itself is nice but not particularly remarkable—it’s similar to many other temples in Korea. However, its setting on the cliffs, right by the sea, is undeniably stunning, making it worth a visit for the scenery alone. That said, be prepared—it may not be the most beautiful temple, but it is definitely one of the most touristy. Located on the northern outskirts of Busan, you can reach it on foot in 30-40 minutes from Osiria Station, Songjeong Station, or Songjeong Beach. There is a coastal path that loops around the small peninsula where the temple is located, but it was blocked off with a warning sign that wasn’t very clear. While I noticed locals fishing on the cliffs below and there seemed to be a way around the gate, I didn’t want to risk crossing it and potentially running afoul of the Korean military.
