The Red Sand Dunes near Riyadh

The Red Sand Dunes near Riyadh are a popular destination for locals and visitors alike — perhaps a bit too popular. On busy days, the area can be crowded with hordes of off-road enthusiasts in 4x4s, quad bikes, and dune buggies, kicking up sand as they race across the landscape. Camels are also available for short rides, adding a touch of traditional flair. While the dunes offer a fun desert experience, they’re best visited in the cooler winter months, as the heat during the rest of the year can be intense, especially under direct sun.
