Qusur al Muqbil (the Moqbel Palaces) near Riyadh
Qusur al-Muqbil (also known as the Moqbel Palaces) is a small cluster of ruined adobe buildings located just outside Riyadh, where the sandy plain meets the dramatic wall of the Tuwaiq Mountains. Once a wealthy village, it featured traditional Najdi architecture and well-preserved homes, but today the site lies in quiet decay, its walls crumbling under the desert sun. Though not a major tourist attraction, it has a certain charm — especially for those interested in off-the-beaten-path heritage sites and atmospheric photo stops.
The site is best accessed by car, and can easily be combined with nearby natural spots like the Red Sand Dunes or the Camel Trail hike. While Qusur al-Muqbil doesn’t take long to explore, its peaceful setting and historical feel make it a pleasant detour if you're already headed to the area.
