Santa Marta - A disappointing city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia

As one of the main holiday destination of Colombia on the Caribbean cost, I was expecting Santa Marta to be much more beautiful. There are some nice buildings in the historic centre, but the city has a run-down feel, and its small beach is not that attractive at all. Rodadero beach, outside Santa Marta, is long and lined with modern buildings, but it is not that impressive either. Around Santa Marta, the only sea-side place I liked was Taganga. On the other hand, I loved Minca, the small village in the mountains.
