Ramadan 2025 - Iftar in Kaohsiung
I looked up online when the first fasting day of Ramadan would be, and it said March 1st. However, after meeting and talking to a Moroccan man in Kaohsiung, where I had arrived the day before, I discovered that in Taiwan it would start a day later than in the Middle East. This saved me from needlessly going to the mosque a day early, as I wanted to have iftar (the fast-breaking meal) with local Muslims. So I visited the main mosque on the evening of the actual first fasting day. There, I was warmly welcomed by Hüseyin, a young man from Turkey. I joined him and others from Turkey, Indonesia, and Malaysia as they broke their fast.
