Cape Eluanbi - The Southernmost Point of Taiwan
Cape Eluanbi, the southernmost point of Taiwan, is a scenic coastal area known for its rugged coral rock formations, coastal forests, and panoramic ocean views. Taiwan’s official southernmost point is marked by a stone monument. Next to it lies Eluanbi Park, home to the Eluanbi Lighthouse, one of Taiwan’s most famous lighthouses. Built in 1883, it is often called the "Light of East Asia" due to its powerful beam, guiding ships through the treacherous waters of the Bashi Channel. The park features several viewpoints overlooking the coastline, where visitors can admire the striking contrast between the jagged coral rocks and lush tropical trees shaped by the strong coastal winds. Nearby, Shadao Beach, known for its pristine white coral sand, remains off-limits to tourists as it is a protected ecological reserve, ensuring the preservation of its unique marine environment.
