Sakurai Futamigaura - Fukuoka's "floating" torii gate

While the torii gate at the Itsukushima (Miyajima) shrine is the most famous, there are at least 5 "floating" torii gates in Japan. One of them is near Fukuoka and known as Sakurai Futamigaura. Unlike the Itsukushima torii gate, which is bright red, this one is white. There aren't any temples or other attractions of that kind in this area (again, unlike Itsukushima), but it is still worth the visit to see this unique sight. In summer, it must be a pleasant place as there are many sandy beaches around, but on my visit in the winter it was quite cold and rainy.

The bus stop in Fukuoka centre is at Tenjin 3-chome (san-chome), and it takes a bit over an hour to get to Sakurai Futamigaura.
