Nagasaki atomic bomb sites
Nagasaki was the second of the only two cities ever bombed with a nuclear weapon. It was an unnecessary, evil act, as Japan was losing the war anyhow and would have surrendered in a reasonable time. But it wasn't really aimed at Japan, rather at the Soviet Union: "You see what we've got? Beware!" And it set off an arms race that never stopped until this day. The sad thing is that we haven't learned anything and today still evil lunatics run the world, and we're closer to another nuclear catastrophe than any time before.
