Hiroshima - Random photos

Hiroshima (hiro-shima) means "wide island", but in fact it is not one, but several islands and river branches in the Motoyasu River delta. It is a city of bridges and trams (street cars), a modern, lively and very pleasant place. This time I ended up staying for a week, as the hostel I was staying at was nice and cheap, and I enjoyed walking in the city and discovering some of its viewpoints. Since my last visit in 2020, a few things have changed. A new covered pedestrian shopping street known as "shotengai" was built, all the way from the nightlife district of Nagarekawa to the Atomic Bomb Dome. There, a new addition was a Ghandi statue unveiled by Indian PM Narendra Modi in 2023. Otherwise not much changed in Hiroshima. I got a surprise at the very end: I was going to Fukuoka (Hakata) by Shinkansen, and when I got to the station I found out it was delayed by 20 minutes! I thought this never happens in Japan.
