Hiking in Busan - Igidae Coastal Trail
Located just south of Gwangalli Beach, the Igidae Coastal Trail is arguably the best seaside hike in Busan. The trailhead can be reached on foot in 30-40 minutes from either the beach or Namcheon Subway Station. The walk offers stunning views throughout, dominated by the iconic Gwangan Bridge and the skyscrapers around Haeundae Beach across the bay.
There are several routes from the trailhead: a couple lead through the forested hills, while the most popular follows the coastline. Despite being a coastal trail, it involves numerous climbs and descents, and the path occasionally cuts through wooded areas. It’s not a particularly difficult hike, but it’s also not an easy one, which means it’s less crowded than other, more accessible coastal walks in Busan.
At the start, it’s worth climbing up to a small Buddhist temple for panoramic city views (trail and viewpoint are marked in Maps.me). However, you'll need to return the same way to the coast to begin the main trail, which features several suspension bridges at the beginning. The trail is approximately 5 kilometers long, and the hike takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to complete.
The trail ends at the Oryukdo Skywalk, which is the least impressive of Busan’s skywalks, though the views from it are still breathtaking. You can return via an alternative trail, but after the hike, you might find yourself a little tired. In that case, you can take any of the bueses that stop near the skywalk to a subway station.
