Busanjin-gu, the center of Busan - Around Seomyeon and Beomil-dong
Busan is a very large city with many lively hubs that exude a central, bustling atmosphere. However, the actual center - the "downtown" - of the city is the district known as Busanjin-gu, with the Seomyeon neighborhood at its heart. This area is characterized by high-rise buildings, businesses, restaurants, cafés, and bars. While I found this area somewhat interesting, it didn’t captivate me as much as other parts of Busan. I was more drawn to the city’s natural and cultural attractions, most of which are located outside Busanjin-gu.
Even though I stayed in this area, I spent the least amount of time here. I walked around Seomyeon and neighboring Beomil-dong a few times, both during the day and late in the evening, but I didn’t dive deeply into exploring it since I’m not particularly interested in this kind of urban entertainment. For me, the most interesting experience in this area was witnessing two opposing demonstrations—one supporting and the other opposing the troubled Korean leader who was arrested recently on charges of insurrection related to his brief imposition of martial law. I don't side with any group, though, as I don't really understand the situation.
