Views of Shanghai from Pudong

Pudong is the new skyscraper district of Shanghai that didn't exist on my last visit in 1991. While it is an iconic scene from The Bund, it is worth to have a look the other way around. After taking the ferry across the Huangpu River (only 2 yuans), first I walked along the river bank to see The Bund from this side. Then I explored the district itself a little bit before heading to the Shanghai World Financial Center. While the Oriental Pearl Tower is the most symbolic building in Pudong, this "twisted" skyscraper is higher and offers better views. I like to see a city from above, and the best time is shortly before sunset, not the sunset itself as most people think. I hanged around in the observation deck until the night lights came up on The Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower, then headed back to the river bank to see illuminated Shanghai from this perspective as well.
