Shanghai attractions - A long walk

I had more time in Shanghai now than the last time 34 years ago and I wanted to see as much of the city as possible. While in 1991 there was no metro at all, today the city is covered by an extensive (but easy to use) network. However, I prefer walking as you see more this way, and I went for a long walk. I started near the People's Park (I did take the metro to get there) then walked to Xintiandi, a historic district turned into an elegant shopping hub. From there I walked to Tianzifang, another old district that was developed into a touristic arts and crafts enclave in the French Concession area. Finally, walking through developing new residential districts where small old houses stand next to new high-rise building, I got to the nicely restored area with traditional Chinese buildings around Yuyuan Garden. It is near the Huangpu River where I headed afterwards to take a ferry to Pudong.
