A Shinkansen ride and glimpses of Mount Fuji
Last time I was in Japan, I took the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Shizuoka, then a local train to the city of Fuji, from where I took a bus to Kawaguchiko and explored the surroundings of Mount Fuji. This time I did it the other direction, from Tokyo to Kyoto, but didn't stop at Mt Fuji, only had a few glimpses of the snow-covered peak from the train. Luckily the mountain wasn't hiding in clouds, as it did a few days earlier when I visited the Metropolitan Government Office in Shinjuku, so I could get some beautiful views. The Shinkansen cruised at around 280 km/h, just like the last time, which seemed slow after the bullet train in China. Nevertheless, when another train passed from the other direction, it took just a couple of seconds. Then, after Nagoya, a rainbow appeared, and shortly before Kyoto you could see snow in the mountains. Without leaving the Kyoto Station I changed to the Nara line, to catch up with my Bedouin friend, Hmeid.
