Hiking Mount Ikoma - Views of Nara and Osaka

After the hike in Kobe, Hemid suggested we go to Mount Ikoma which separates Nara from Osaka. We got off the train at Ikoma and walked up the hill, although you could also take a cable-pulled train to reach the top where there is an amusement park. But the walk itself is nice, and you can visit the beautiful Hozan-ji Temple along the way. Being winter, the amusement park was closed, not that we really cared. But you get great views of both Nara and Osaka from the top. We descended on the other side of the hill, which was more of a proper hike through thick forest. We finished the hike in Nukata but walked to Ishikiri to catch the train back to Nara.
