Day trip from Tokyo to Kamakura
I walked all around Tokyo re-visiting areas that I liked, so I thought I would do a day trip outside the metropolis. My origonal idea was to go to Chichibu and see the Museum of Rocks That Look Like Faces (秩父珍石館) but it is relatively far away and there wasn't much else to do in that town. So I changed my plan and instead visited Kamakura and Yokohama on the same day. You could actually spend a full day or two in both, there are so many attractions, but even in this short time I managed to cover quite a lot. In Kamakura, apart from the Big Buddha statue, the two main temples and the beach, there are several other beautiful temples and great hiking opportunities. You could even walk to Ōfuna where there is a 25 metres tall sculpture of bodhisattva in a hill side, which I only saw from the train, and a hanging monorail. If I visit Tokyo again, I will make sure to have enough time to do some hiking around Kamakura and hopefully will visit the Chichibu museum of rock faces as well.
