Vadodara (Baroda), Gujarat

Written as Vadodara but pronounced as "Vorodra", the city is also called Baroda. From a tourists perspective, probably the only reason to visit it is because it is the nearest big city to the Statue of Liberty, the World's tallest statue. But Vadodara is a quite beautiful place on its own right, with a few attractions. Among these are beautiful old buildings, and the gold plated Lord Shiva Statue at Sursagar Lake in the centre. It's not easy to find cheap (reasonable) accommodation in Vadodara, as most hotels do not accept foreigners.
