The Statue of Unity - The World's tallest statue

The Statue of Unity (official website) is the world's tallest statue, with a height of 182 metres, located about 100 kilometres from Vadodara, near a village called Kevadia. The Statue of Liberty in NYC looks like a toy in comparison. The statue overlooks a dam, symbols and pride of modern India. The monumental artwork depicts Indian statesman and independence activist Vallabhbhai Patel, who was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India. You do get a feeling, however, that the statue is just as much about Mr. Modi as Mr. Patel.

In theory, you could visit the site from Vadodara as a day trip, but it makes more sense to stay in nearby Kevadia. Free transport is provided from Kevadia to the statue and the sights around it. Not many foreigners visit this place, but in my opinion it is very much worth the effort.
