Kathmandu and Patan (Lalitpur) walks

Similarly to Bhaktapur, and even more so, Patan is part of greater Kathmandu. Renamed for its historic name, it is now called Lalitpur. From Thamel, where most visitors stay, it's about 5.5 kilometres to Patan's Durbar Square, so it is a walkable distance. Back I took a microbus, but on the last day to the airport, which is about 6 kilometres from Thamel, I walked through the suburbs.

The walk in Kathmandu on the way to Patan (Lalitpur)

Just across the Bagmati River is the city of Patan (Lalitpur), with another stunningly beautiful old town.

Back in Kathmandu, walking along one of the main streets that leads to smaller streets and the Thamel district.

Tha walk to the airport leads mostly along a quite big road, although for some reason there wasn't much traffic. After a while you have to get over to another main road along a little river to reach Kathmandu Airport. It's a nice way to have a glimpse of the suburbs.
