Tashkent attractions
An earthquake in 1966 destroyed much of Tashkent, but some historic sites survived. Then during Soviet times architecture of that era appeared, including the Metro itself, and today an ultramodern contemporary style dominates. Exceptions to it are the monumental new Islamic centre, almost finished, and the striking white Minor mosque, which are traditional. You can see the main sights of Tashkent in a couple of days.
