Aksikon (Akhkon) - the Asht Salt Flat near Khujand
A relatively little-known, and rarely visited attraction near Khujand is the Aksikon (Akhkon) or Asht Salt Flat. It's not as huge as some other salf flats in the world, but the area is fairly large and it looks just as stunning. In summer locals visit it mostly who take a bath in the mud found under the salt layer. You can take a shared taxi from the Abreshim bus station to the direction of Dusti and get off at the sign on the main road. You have to be prepared to walk a couple of hours, but you may get lucky, as I did, and someone will pick you up. You can approach the salt field from two directions, which I didn't know at the time, but here is a map so you don't have to do the same mistake.
From the main road first you ave to reach a village. From here, there are two ways to approach the salt flat. I followed the route marked with red, but it would have made more sense to walk back along the route marked with blue.
