Akhaltsikhe and the Rabati Castle
Of all the castles I've seen in Georgia, the Rabati Castle is the most beautiful, and it would score well even on a global scale. It merges Christian and Islamic elements, and in the town (technically city), there is also a Jewish quarter with two synagogues. The town also has a bit of a Soviet feel here and there, but also the usual ultramodern council building. Akhaltsikhe is a very pleasant place, it's worth staying at least for a couple of days. You can also visit the Vardzia cave monastery complex from here, as a 1-day program. Furthermore, there are nice restaurants and accommodation choices.
