Stunning views of Mexico City - The 5 best viewpoints
Most tourists visit two of them, Torre Latinoamericana and Chapultepec Castle, but let me suggest another three viewpoints which offer amazing vistas of Mexico City. Following you can see the location map and photos of the panoramic views from each.
1. Torre Latinoamericana; 2. Monument to the Revolution; 3. Capilla del Cerrito (Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe); 4. Chapultepec Castle; 5. World Trade Center.
Torre Latinoamericana
Standing at the eastern end of the central park, Alameda Central, the Torre Latinoamericana is the best known skyscraper in Mexico City. This is the tallest building in this part of town and the panoramic view of the whole city is indeed fantastic. The observation deck is open, there is no glass wall. The admission was 180 MXN / 10 USD in 2023.
Monument to the Revolution
Located in the centre of Mexico City, near Paseo de la Reforma little west from the central park, Alameda Central, the Monument to the Revolution is not that tall but it offers beautiful views. First the elevator takes you to a level which has a high glass wall, but then you can climb through the attic to the very top. There is glass wall here too, but low enough to be able to make pictures above it. The admission was 150 MXN / 8 USD in 2023.
Capilla del Cerrito
Situated in the north, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the major attractions of Mexico City. Several old and modern religious sites are found in the compound, among them Capilla del Cerrito, as the name suggests, on a hilltop. From its stairs an terraces you have a 180° view to the south. Admission to the compound and churches is free.
Chapultepec Castle
In Mexico City`s best known park, Bosque de Chapultepec, stands on a hill the only royal castle in the Americas. It is one of the must-see attractions, and from the terraces you get beautiful views of the surrounding suburbs over the tree-tops. The admission was 90 MXN / 5 USD in 2023.
World Trade Center
In the southern business district, on Avenida Insurgentes Sur, stands Mexico City`s World Trade Center. On its top sits an upmarket revolving restaurant, Bellini Restaurante, an expensive way to have a view of the city. Few people know that there are observation floors above it which are open to the public. They belong to a company that has offices there, but if a visitor turns up (probably very seldom) a guide will be assigned who shows the two levels. Unfortunately you can only take photos through a glass wall, but the vistas of the city from this location are truly stunning. The admission was 250 MXN / 13.5 USD in 2023 and it included a shot of mezcal with worms.
