Day-trip from Puebla: Cholula and Santa Maria Tonantzintla

Cholula used to be a separate town but now it is part of greater Puebla. Some people stay in Cholula itself, a pretty place for sure, others make a day-trip from Puebla or Mexico City. I stayed in Puebla, so I took a colectivo from there (opposite the Mercado de Sabores). The main attractions of Cholula are the church atop a largely destroyed pyramid and the views from its platform, and the ruins of the pyramid. Near Cholula is Santa Maria Tonantzintla (colectivo from market) famous for its "indigenous Baroque" church where the angel figures of the decoration are dark skinned.
