Piedra del Peñol, the rock of Guatapé
Piedra del Peñol, located near the town of Guatapé, is an impressive sight and from its top you can have stunning views of the surrounding hills and the man-made lake of Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir. My timing wasn't the best, as it was the very beginning of January and I went a bit late in the morning, and the area was already overrun by hordes of tourists. My advise is try to go as early as you can, or maybe late in the afternoon for sunset. You can take a bus from Guatapé, but I recommend walking at least one way: there is a path from where you can see the rock from different angles.

The bus stop at the petrol station where the climb starts. You can take a three-wheeler as well from here to the base of the rock.

In town, there are a couple of viewpoints as well - read more about it and see photos in the post about Guatapé.
