Bolivia Day 1 - Volcanos, desert, colourful lagoons, geysers
The public bus I was supposed to take to Bolivia was cancelled in the last minute, so I decided to take a 3-day tour through the highlands - no regrets! On the first day the altitude was really high, on average about 4,400 meters above sea level, the highest point was 4,960! That's when the yoghurt exploded. The landscape was desert plains framed by volcanos and dotted with lakes of different colours. At one point there was a geothermal field with geysers, but very different from El Tatio on the Chilean side. The day ended in a village called Villa Mar, at a lower altitude - "only" about 4,000 meters asl.
