Paraty - A picturesque town that gets flooded twice every day

Paraty is a little city on the coast, about half way between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Its colourful old buildings are very picturesque, especially when the high tide floods the cobblestone streets. Actually, the streets are not paved with cobblestones but big rocks and are designed in a way to let the water flow in and out. Paraty is very touristy, popular with rich Brazilians, but nevertheless it's very much worth a visit. I had some work to catch up with, so I spent five days here - and tomorrow I'm off to São Paulo.
