Turkish architecture in Budapest

Hungary was under Ottoman rule for 150 years, and quite a few peieces of Turkish architecture remained from that time. One of them is the Király Thermal Bath, found in Fő street in Buda. It was built as a traditional Turkish bath and still functions as such. Not far from it is another thermal bath, the St. Lukács, and next to it stands the National Institute of Rheumatology. It's a modern building, but if you have a look from above, you can see it's built around a Turkish bath. Opposite the St. Lukács Bath, on the other side of Frankel Leó street, there is a small plot of land with a pond and a historic Turkish building in a very bad state. In contrast, a little up from here is the Tomb of Gül Baba, beautifully restored and inaugurated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. More about it in a previous post: Tomb of Gül Baba
