Koh Ker and Beng Mealea
Located some 120 and 60 kilometres from Siem Reap, respectively, Koh Ker and Beng Mealea are sites from the Angkor Wat period. The first is a former capital of the Khmer Empire, most notable for its stepped 7-tiered pyramid known as Prasat Thom, while the second is an ancient, smaller size replica of Angkor Wat in a state that Angkor Wat was in before the renovations.
