Kep - A little gem on the beach

Famous for its crabs and salt fields, Kep is a very small town only some 20 kilometres from Kampot. Many expats prefer to live in the latter - I am not a big beach fan, but I definitely would prefer Kep. The town is big enough to offer all you need, it has a bit of a nightlife, green hills and a wonderful coastline. Furthermore, according to a local, the government of Kep is against big development, and I hope it stays that way. At the same time, it would be great to renovate the now ruined old French colonial buildings which comprise an eerie ghost town in the city centre. I didn't have the chance to climb the hills around Kep due to an unexpected rain, but then again, maybe next time. It was the last stop on my Cambodia tour, heading now to Vietnam.
