Da Nang - Welcoming the Vietnamese New Year
The Vietnamese New Year found me in Da Nang, a big but very quiet and easy going coastal city in central Vietnam. It consists of a busier city, a mixture of new and old, and a long stretch of sandy beaches separated by a river from the city. It seemed a much more pleasant alternative to Nha Trang if someone wanted a beach destination. The landmark bridge, one of several bridges, is the Dragon Bridge that lit in different colours at night. In the south of Da Nang are the Marble Mountains, a cluster of rocky outcrops, and in the north is the much bigger Sơn Trà, the Monkey Mountain. It could be seen from the train as I was leaving Da Nang, heading north to Hue.
