Masada and the Dead Sea

Masada is an ancient fortress on a massive plateau offering magnificent views of the Dead Sea. According to Josephus, the siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire at the end of the First Jewish–Roman War ended in the mass suicide of 960 people who were holding out hiding there. Since then Israelis vow that "Masada shall not fall again."
