Freedom of movement and hills of donations
Refugees with tickets today were indeed let on trains going to the Austrian border where buses wait on the other side, and the number of refugees at the station has shrunk to a manageable level. Emptied areas were cleaned, and in the Transit Zone everything was very well organised. Donations just poured in from Hungarian and foreign charities and volunteers. Food, clothes, shoes, toys etc were separated and even a Wi-Fi hotspot was set up. Volunteers coming from Austria and Germany offered free rides and provided information about their countries. Everybody was very happy, there was almost a festive atmosphere. Refugees were grateful for the help, and they do understand it is all coming from ordinary people not our government. However this situation can end any time, the government is already talking about closing the border again and tougher measures from September 15.
